Music and sound therapist Marcus Campbell has created 12 unique musical compositions, each reflecting the essence of a specific circle. Drawing from field recordings, travel journal and dreams shared by the artist, Campbell has crafted a musical interpretation for each of the experiences at these circles. You can choose to listen to these compositions either individually or in conjunction with the related artwork.
The sound accompanying the exhibition can be accessed in several ways:
QR Code: A QR code is located next to each artwork, which will take you to a webpage with the corresponding music and additional details about the artist's experience at that circle. The text boards also have QR codes to assist visitors who require a text read and can access the text read by the artist.
Headphones: If you have a phone but no headphones you can borrow the headphones provided, simply scan the QR code and listen as you move from one artwork to the next.
MP3 Player & HeadphonesAlternatively, you can collect a set of headphones and an MP3 player from the designated station. Begin your journey at Boscawen-Un and proceed clockwise through the exhibition, listening to the soundscapes that correspond with each piece. The soundtracks last between 1 to 2 minutes, guiding you up to the mezzanine floor, where you'll finish at The Ring of Brodgar.
Alternatively you can sit and listen to the sound alone on the mezzanine floor where there are two stations with headphones and a bench.
A map near the entrance outlines the artist’s journey in 2023.
We encourage you to leave your thoughts and feedback about the exhibition in the visitor book by the door. Please return the headphones to their hooks when you're finished, so they are ready for the next visitor.

Enjoy your experience!
